Dollar ends week lower against euro, yen

The U.S. dollar booked a weekly loss against its main rivals on Friday, shrugging off strong U.S. data, as investors book profits after last week’s gains. The ICE U.S. dollar index DXY, -0.20% a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was flat at on the day to 95.4200, and down 1.4% for the week. On Thursday, official data showed retail sales rose 1.2% in May. Weak readings from the previous two months were revised upward. That pushed up economists’ expectations for second-quarter GDP.
